Technical textile circular and bio-based functionalization innovative, evolutionary and non-toxic
The european industry is driven by the Green Deal by the European Commission to become an industry in its net emissions to zero, to accelerate the transition towards climate neutrality and strengthen their resilience. As an integral part of the manufacturing sector in the EU, the european textile sector is then called to act and achieve a new level of innovation disruptive in textiles sustainable.

BioFibreLoop is a consortium of business-oriented consists of 12 partners, including small and large companies and scientific institutions that will address these challenges by developing a new generation of materials are renewable, recyclable, and bioispirati, based on lignin, cellulose and polylactic acid, with a level of technological maturity (TRL) 7 by the year 2027.

Innovation is addressed to the outdoor/active/workwear and lead to the creation of technical textile circular products with biopolymers and functionalization innovative, evolutionary and non-toxic. BioFibreLoop will demonstrate the revolutionary technologies and will open the way to the entrance on the market:

  1.  functionalization biomimicry to almost zero waste through the circularity,
  2.  use no hazardous chemicals,
  3.  satisfaction of the needs of the consumers, thanks to smart features for hydrophobicity, repellent oils, self-cleaning and antibattericità.

In 3 demo sites industrial (EN, DE, AT), the functionalization biomimetics and recycling of materials, bio-based they will be tested on a large scale to TRL7. These processes, which are already owned by partners and taken to a TRL4, including, for example, the coating of thermoplastic-based, lignin free, laser technology for surface patterns in textiles, bio-based and recycled thermo-mechanical treatment of textile materials based on PLA and lignin as valuable secondary raw materials.

At the end of the project, process, circular, sustainable and secure patented will be validated and demonstrated on a large scale to create materials with renewable, recyclable, and functionalized completely new. By the year 2035, 20% of the textile industry will adopt our solution, generating approximately 950 million euros of additional revenues.
